Now I could have easily chosen some songs by say, oh Taylor Swift, that depict unrequited love and theater references with a bit of country flare, but I decided to go on a purely instrumental route. Most western type songs can be a bit too slow and depressing (as it is with most of this movie's songs) or they can be typical upbeat and goofy. This song, I believe is great for Love in Disguise (at least for the bit of where I'm up to: chapter 11.)
The beginning undulating crescendos and decrescendos plucking of the strings, to me, represent the journey of a train, such as the journey Ellie has to make from Chicago to the wild west of Arizona for employment. This also signifies the journey for Ellie that is to come with the investigation. The call and answering of the strings and piano represent the characters and personalities that Ellie must perform to keep her job as she acts the part of both an widowed old lady named Lavinia and a young beautiful woman named Jessie (HEY! Jessie... Jesse, see what I accidentally did there?) Will she be able to keep her covers to solve this investigation and keep her new job or will she succumb to love and drop her entire act? We shall see!
Fun idea...IQ84 = Aqueous Transmission by Incubus
