Hallowed (Unearthly #2) by Cynthia Hand (yes, 9hrs. after finishing Unearthly)

Hallowed (Unearthly, #2)Hallowed by Cynthia Hand
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

"For months part-angel Clara Gardner trained to face the raging forest fire from her visions and rescue the alluring and mysterious Christian Prescott from the blaze. But nothing could prepare her for the fateful decisions she would be forced to make that day, or the startling revelation that her purpose—the task she was put on earth to accomplish—is not as straightforward as she thought.

Now, torn between her increasingly complicated feelings for Christian and her love for her boyfriend, Tucker, Clara struggles to make sense of what she was supposed to do the day of the fire. And, as she is drawn further into the world of part angels and the growing conflict between White Wings and Black Wings, Clara learns of the terrifying new reality that she must face: Someone close to her will die in a matter of months. With her future uncertain, the only thing Clara knows for sure is that the fire was just the beginning." -Goodreads.com

My Review:
This book was a lot better than the first and had great plot development and twists. It even invoked some tears, which I'm sure is partially due to my own experiences that coincide with Clara's feelings about her parents and what happens with them. Seeing as how I read this book in a day, I don't need to go into how the book captured my interest and pulled me through, chapter after chapter. I quite enjoyed it. The author shows definite growth from the first book, "Unearthly" to this one, and I cannot wait until the third in the series is released!

"'Our purpose on this earth is not a single event, an accomplishment we can check off a list. There is no test. No passing of failing. There's only us, each moment shaping who we are, into what we will become. So I say forget about the future. Pay attention to now. This moment right now. Let go of expectations. Just be. Then you are free to become something great.'" (393)
