Soundtrack Saturday

Hosted by myself (Novel Reveries)

Choose a song that you believe could be the soundtrack to your last finished book, or to a character in your last finished book.

Currently Reading: Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

*SCREEEEEEECH!*
Hold on. Let me start by saying that this book started off terrible for me, much so that the thought of skipping this week's meme became very appealing. I KEPT READING. Good thing too, because the plot picked up and I'm skipping less paragraphs per page (come on we've all done it.) I have the gist of the book now, and I'm a couple chapters past Part Two. I DON'T WANT TO GIVE AWAY ANY SPOILERS WITH TODAY'S MEME although it's quite tempting, therefore I figure I'll just focus this meme on Part One of the book. As I browsed through my iTunes I found so many non-instrumental songs (because this book needs a non-instrumental, lyrical song) that are veering in the
spoiler direction; I've written them all in my book journal to remember, if anybody who's read the book and want to know what the spoiler songs are. So here's my dilemma: find a song that doesn't give any spoilers, yet keeps the tone, mood and meaning of the book. It's taken me over an hour and a half. Shall we commence?

Soundtrack: In The End by Linkin Park

(instrumentals denotes a psychological suspense, right?)

While I wanted the instrumentals to play out the book's tone, I wanted the lyrics to comply with the character's feelings. Might I say, both Amy and Nick have trust issues. If I had to pick a meaningful verse from the song (though they are all mostly meaningful in the novel's aspect) I would have to choose,

"Things aren't the way they were before
You wouldn't even recognize me anymore
Not that you knew me back then
But it all comes back to me (In the end)"

Because both Amy and Nick (but mostly Amy) seem to go through their marriage not really knowing each other, just going through the motions of the idea of each other, and what a marriage should be like. Okay, okay, okay! I don't want to say anymore, lest I venture into Part Two of the novel. Which I'm not. Soooooo...
Happy Saturday!
